September natural gas prices broke out to their highest level since January 10th during the initial morning hours, but turned lower heading into the US opening. The latest six to 10 day weather maps continue to forecast above normal temperatures across a large portion of the US, and that is seen boosting air-conditioning demand for natural gas. There is some concern that the recent advance in prices above the $3.00 could foster utility switching from natural gas back to lower priced coal.
