Most Expensive Ski Resorts In The US

Nobody ever claimed skiing was a cheap sport, but where you go can certainly make a big difference in how much you spend.

Cheaphotels.com recently compared 20 of the United States’ largest ski resorts based on the cost of their February and March 2013 lodging. Specifically, researchers at the fare-comparing website looked at what travelers would spend for a 3-star (or above) hotel located inside or in close proximity to the respective resorts, most of which were in the Rockies.

Bargain hunters should be forewarned: Colorado is far more expensive than Idaho, Wyoming or even Utah.

Indeed, Olympic host Park City, Utah, was one of the most affordable resorts on the survey, with rooms averaging just $129 per night, compared with $241 at Aspen, Colo. Idaho’s Sun Valley and California’s Heavenly Mountain Resort were even cheaper, with ski accommodation running less than $100 per night.

On the flip side, the slideshow above offers a look at 10 ski resorts that will put at least a $190 dent in your wallet each night.
