Leaks and rumors pertaining to the next-generation Moto G 2016, also known as Moto G4, have been frequent of late. The latest news from China says Motorola has scheduled a special event on June 9 when it will introduce one of the Moto devices earmarked for this year.

CEO of Lenovo Yang Yuanqing reportedly acknowledged, during the launch event of the ZUK Z2 Pro smartphone, that Motorola will launch a new handset on June 9, Gizmo China reported. Not long ago, Motorola promised that Moto G 2016, Moto X 2016 and Moto E 2016 were in the offing.

But Yuanqing did not announce the device name to be introduced in June. In the past couple of weeks, leaks related to Moto G 2016 have increased and hence, this mid-range phone is the one expected to be announced.

The upcoming Moto X 2016 also has its fair share of leaks and rumors from various sources. The Moto E 2016, on the other hand, hasn’t been making much noise.

Earlier rumors suggested that Motorola will be introducing two variants of the Moto G 2016. One of the models, dubbed Moto G4, will be the quintessential successor of last year’s version.

The second model, dubbed Moto G4 Plus, will be bigger in size. The bigger version has been rumored to feature a fingerprint scanner embedded in the Home button. Prominent tipster @evleaks uploaded a photo of Moto G4 Plus recently.

Speaking of Moto X 2016, a leaked photo of a prototype version showed the handset with a Moto batwing logo located at the top left corner. In addition, the image showed a fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the display.

Spec-wise, the Moto X 2016 is believed to feature a 5.0-inch display, USB Type-C connector and a front-facing flash.
