The streaming-movie portal Movie2K mysteriously went missing in action this week, with many speculating that the likes of the Motion Picture Association of America or one of its allies in the eternal intellectual-property war may have played a role in smothering it.

Whether the MPAA did or the MPAA did not, the BitTorrentcentric blog TorrentFreak indicated Friday that Movie2K’s demise may be more apparent than real, as its copious online research suggests the operators of the portal may be planning a sequel (and soon): Movie4K, anyone?

Meanwhile, an IBTimes sibling -- International Design Times -- developed a list of eight sites Friday where you can stream free movies online (as you could at Movie2K) and do it legally (as you could not at Movie2K). Check it out:
