Mozilla has officially announced the release of its new version of Firefox 3.5 which boosts higher performance and new features.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 features a private browsing mode that hides browser activity, a faster JavaScript engine known as TraceMonkey, location services and support for HTML 5.

“So much is happening on the Web right now, it’s a great time for browsers. Firefox 3.5 brings together the most innovative Web technologies and delivers them in the most complete and powerful modern browser,” said John Lilly, CEO, Mozilla.

In 2008, the company launched Firefox 3.0 and reported an estimated 14,000 downloads per minute to a total of 8 million downloads in 24 hours.

Firefox has 300 million people, up from 175 million in 2008.

The released is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and available in more than 70 languages. It is downloadable from its website. Existing user will be prompted directly for updates within the browser.
