Justin Bieber may be short one girlfriend after news of his split from Selena Gomez made the airwaves, but he was the big winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards Sunday in Frankfurt, Germany at Festhalle.

Though not in attendance, Bieber won awards for Best Male, Best Pop and Best World Stage. Carly Re Jepson, who is signed to Bieber's Schoolboy Records, won two awards: Best Song for "Call Me Maybe" and Best PUSH. Jepson also performed during the awards show and even crowd surfed.

No Doubt, PSY famous for "Gangnam Style," Pitbull, Rita Ora, Alicia Keys, the Killers and Taylor Swift also performed on the stage in Frankfurt.

Swift won Best Female, Best Live and Best Look.

"I can't believe you gave me three awards!" Swift exclaimed when he accepted her award wearing a beaded J. Mendel gown.

In addition to performances, the late Whitney Houston was awarded Global Icon, the third to receive the prestigious award after Queen and Bon Jovi.

Heidi Klum opened the show which was circus-themed while Kim Kardashian and David Hsselhoff dressed as an astronaut were amongst the presenters for the evening.
