Mumford & Sons Bassist Hospitalized With Blood Clot; Band Cancels Pre-Bonnaroo Shows

The popular folk act Mumford & Sons has canceled several tour dates this week before appearing at this year’s Bonnaroo festival after the band’s bassist Ted Dwane was hospitalized. According to a joint blog post from the band, Dwayne was diagnosed with a blog clot in his brain that will require surgery.

"Our friend and bandmate Ted has been feeling unwell for a few days, and yesterday he was taken to a hospital to receive emergency treatment," read a joint statement from the band. "The scans revealed a blood clot on the surface of his brain that requires an operation. Ted is receiving excellent care, and we are being assured that he will recover quickly from surgery. "Sadly we have to postpone three upcoming headline shows planned for this week in Dallas on Tuesday 6/11, Woodlands on Wednesday 6/12, and New Orleans on Thursday 6/13. All dates will be rescheduled and will be announced as soon as we can; all tickets for this week’s events will be honoured at their rescheduled dates. We have no plans to cancel or postpone any other appearances along this current tour."

Mumford & Sons is still scheduled to perform at this year’s Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn. The band is set to headline the festival on Saturday, playing the What Stage at 9:30 p.m.

After Bonnaroo, Mumford & Sons still plans to continue its tour despite Dwane’s hospitalization. The band will be performing in Kansas and Colorado only a few days after the headline performance at Bonnaroo. Mumford & Sons will embark for a tour of the United Kingdom at the end of June.
