South Africa's Mvelaphanda Resources has held exploratory talks with Aquarius Platinum about a possible sale or joint venture ragarding a section of Mvela's Booysendal project, Mvela's chief executive said on Monday.

There are exploratory discussions around it in terms of the southern portion of Booysendal, which is adjacent to Aquarius, to see if there is sensible joint cooperation, Pine Pienaar said in a telephone interview from South Africa.

He told Reuters that consolidation was inevitable in South Africa's platinum sector and in theory Mvela would make a good combination with Aquarius and Anooraq Resources , but said no talks about any possible merger have been held. (Reporting by Eric Onstad; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
