Season 5 of “My 600-Lb Life” is slated to return to TLC Wednesday, which also means there will be a new update for “Where Are They Now.” Even though cameras follow participants for a year, their journey is far from over. In most cases, people go on to lose more weight. Sometimes, however, they gain the pounds back.

That’s because gastric bypass is a magic cure. People who participate on the show must also follow a healthy diet, exercise and go to therapy. “TLC's ‘My 600-Lb Life’ follows several individuals as they struggle to go from weighing over 600 lbs. to being at their ideal healthy weight,” a description on the show’s Facebook page reads. “Their journeys begins with gastric bypass surgery, a tool to help them lose weight, as well as going to the gym, seeking therapies, and dietitians. The journey is an uphill battle as they overcome various hurdles to get their life on track.”

TLC has not revealed who they are going to show updates on. Season 2 did updates on Chay (now known as Lola), Pauline, Laura, Marla, Angel, Charity, Joe, Bettie Jo, Susan, Zsalynn, Olivia, Christina, Paula, Melissa and Ashley.

Based on Google searches, viewers would like to know what’s up with Season 4 participants, Lupe, Sean, Nikki and Dottie. From Season 3, people wanted to know about Charity and Amber.

Even though, Penny was from Season 2, still still intrigued viewers. Her name was one of the most popular searches associated with the show. Luckily for fans, she did an interview with TLC to update the audience.

Penny continues to work on her weight loss, but is still unable to walk. “I'm waking up, going to physical therapy, following a diet and resting,” she said about her typical day. Even though the journey has been hard, she wants to continue to lose weight and get skin removal surgery in the next five years.

Regular updates are known for Brittani, Bettie Jo, Laura and Zsalynn since they have Facebook accounts associated with the show’s page. Mostly all of them have continued their weight loss journey and continue to work to maintain their goal weight.

Season 3 of “Where Are They Now” will air after Season 5 of “My 600-Lb Life,” which premieres Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST on TLC.
