Thirteen burned bodies were discovered at a border post in Kazakhstan, along China’s border Twelve of the charred corpses are believed to be border guards, while three of their compatriots remain missing.

According to media reports, it is unclear if they died in a fire or were killed beforehand and then burned. The Interfax-Kazakhstan news agency reported that the guards’ weapons were found at the scene.

The border post near the city of Almaty is only manned during the summer to stop Chinese from crossing illegally into Kazakhstan and talking medicinal plant.
