Rafael Nadal's first round match was a struggle as the King of Clay faced off against the John Isner, the King of Endurance. In his quest for his sixth French Open title, getting past Isner took a grueling 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 win.

Isner serve caused Nadal a number of problems throughout the match, something that Nadal will have to focus on.

It's possible that Nadal struggles were due to the distraction of Novak Djokovic, who has been the most talked about competitor coming into the French Open.

Djokovic was impressive in his dominating victory over Nadal himself on the red clay courts of the Rome Masters a week ago.

Yet, Nadal has won five French Open titles while Djokovic has only made it as far as the semi-finals.

However, Djokovic was unstoppable in his straight sets victory yesterday over Thiemo De Bakker.

Nadal struggled in his opening round match, but his opponent was still impressed.

He was just too good, Isner said after the match. He is the best in the world.

It's a long road to the finals, yet a Nadal-Djokovic finals appears to be inevitable.

What do you think? How did Nadal look in his match against Isner? Can he beat Djokovic in a potential final?
