Naomi Campbell Kindly Critiques Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s Vogue Cover: 'I Do Not Want To Comment'

Sarah Michele Gellar may have openly expressed her dissapoinment in Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s Vogue cover. But model Naomi Campbell took a more discreet approach when sharing her views on the controversial snap. During an interview with Australia’s "The Morning Show," hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies asked Campbell, 43, what she thought of Kimye’s latest accomplishment

"I do not want to comment," said Campbell, pausing briefly before bursting into a hearty chuckle. Rather than outright bash the pair’s Vogue cover, Naomi then took a moment to flex her own fashion experience and remind viewers that the honor is a prestigious moment, specifically for a model.

"I'm a fashion model and I've been working for 28 years," Campbell said. "And when you get a Vogue cover, it's a build in your career…. a stepping stone to achieve that." The hosts then questioned if she thought Kim and Kanye had “earned the right to be on the cover.” But Campbell cautiously clung to her previous point, simply saying, "Those are your words -- not mine. I'm being politically correct."

Since it was announced that West and Kardashian would cover the magazine’s April 2014 issue, Vogue has faced a great deal of backlash from people shocked by their decision to feature the couple. The cover has since been parodied by James Franco and Seth Rogen, and Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour even wrote her editor's letter for the issue about her decision to put the two on the cover.

"Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it," Wintour, 64, wrote. "I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T. (Or perhaps that should be to a K?)," wrote Wintour.

She also added that, despite the rumors, West never begged her to put Kardashian on the cover.

"As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue's cover. He did nothing of the sort," she explained. "The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn't true."
