Check out the images NASA just released of the International Space Station and the docked space shuttle Endeavour.

The conjoined ship and space station were flying at an altitude of approximately 220 miles when the photos were taken. They were taken by Expedition 27 crew member Paolo Nespoli from the Soyuz TMA-20 following its undocking on May 23, 2011.

This is the first time any photo of a docked shuttle was taken next to the International Space Station from the perspective of a Russian Soyuz spacecraft. This was Endeavour's last journey in space, a week or so later it returned to Earth for the final time.

Next month, Atlantis will head into space and become the last space shuttle mission ever.
