While the major averages have pulled back well off their best levels of the day over the course of the afternoon, stocks remain mostly positive after showing a strong upward move in morning trading on some better than expected economic data.

Housing and banking stocks continue to post strong gains, although most have moved well off their highs for the session. While considerable strength also remains visible among gold and health insurance stocks, computer hardware and real estate have come under pressure.

In recent trading, the tech-heavy Nasdaq briefly slipped below the unchanged line, but it has moved back to the upside since then. The Nasdaq is currently up 3.01 at 1,519.53, while the Dow is up 40.62 at 7,700.59 and the S&P 500 is up 3.31 at 809.56.
