Stocks rebounded on Friday, with the Nasdaq up 2 percent, as European Union leaders agreed on measures to address the debt crisis and U.S. consumer confidence rose to its highest level in six months.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 194.39 points, or 1.62 percent, to 12,192.09. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 21.83 points, or 1.77 percent, to 1,256.18. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 51.23 points, or 1.97 percent, to 2,647.61.
