The Nasdaq rose more than 2 percent as the market extended gains on Wednesday, helped by bargain hunting and strong home sales data.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 113.36 points, or 1.13 percent, at 10,157.11. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 14.36 points, or 1.34 percent, at 1,088.39. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> jumped 41.59 points, or 1.88 percent, at 2,252.54, after rising more than 2 percent.
