“Nashville” is set to premiere its second season on Sept. 25, and now fans of the ABC series have another reason to be excited – “Vampire Diaries” and “Twilight” star Charlie Bewley is heading over to the country drama show!

The 32-year-old actor, who played vampire hunter Vaughn on “The Vampire Diaries,” is set to make his first appearance on “Nashville” in episode three. Bewley will be dropping the stakes and holy water for a chance to woo Hayden Panettiere’s Juliette as Trey, her potential love interest. According to TV Line, Trey is “confident, charming and self-deprecating businessman” -- and it sounds like Nashville will be his home for a quite some time since its a recurring role.

Bewley’s casting as Trey is good news for Panettiere’s Juliette, who may be struggling in season two. After losing her mother at the end of season one, Juliette’s latest issue stems from the uncertain fate of her rival, Rayna. In a recently released trailer for “Nashville’s” second season, Rayna appears to be in critical condition after the horrific car accident her and Deacon got into in the season one finale. But while Rayna’s family looks on horrified, Juliette is throwing a tantrum, telling her inner circle, “Now I have to compete with a saint in a coma.”

Juliette will also be competing with newcomer Layla, who will be played by “Sharknado” actress Aubrey Peeples. TV Line reported in late July that Layla is the winner of an “American Idol” type competition and is so driven to be a country star that she “downplays her Northeastern roots, high level of education and stable family life.” The new character will “come across as sweet at first … but her darker side will show itself over time.”

Season two of “Nashville” premieres on ABC Wednesday, Sept. 25. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments section.
