“Nashville” Season 3 episode 5 threw some huge curveballs to Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) and her pregnancy. She finally told Avery (Jonathan Jackson), but that might not have been the best idea. Only a few others know her secret as well, yet apparently a pregnancy won’t even stop a movie star from hitting on her. However, the men in her life won’t really matter if Juliette doesn’t survive until next week.

Juliette started this week being firm about not telling Avery. After Avery’s arrest and confession that he didn’t want anything to do with her, Juliette decided she would stay out of his life. However Emily (Kourtney Hansen) wouldn’t stop pushing, especially after Juliette’s new backup singer, Zoe (Chaley Rose), overheard her talking about the baby. Emily pointed out that Zoe would probably tell Avery anyway. Juliette got fed up and decided to tell Avery in the classiest way possible—via text message.

While Avery was doing his court-ordered community service, he got a text. “I’m pregnant. It’s yours,” the text read. At least she’s direct.

Of course, Juliette dropped that bomb and then refused to talk to him. She ignored his calls, so he hunted her down on the set of her Patsy Cline biopic. Juliette claimed she never met anyone named Avery. He yelled at her trailer loud enough for co-star Noah West (Derek Hough) to hear.

“After sending me at text about being pregnant with my baby, you won’t even face me?! Congratulations on being a coward as well as a liar!” Avery shouted.

Glenn (Ed Amatrudo) came out of Juliette’s trailer to send him away. Avery asked Glenn if it was true and if it could be Jeff’s baby, but he didn’t seem to have any knowledge about Juliette and Jeff. Glenn told Avery that it was his, but he needed to leave and get his life together.

“Juliette was raised in chaos. There’s no way I’m going to let the same thing happen to her child,” Glenn said.

Juliette couldn’t focus on Avery. She had to get back to filming. Noah stepped in while filming the love scene and suggested she be on top so the camera was on her back. Juliette was grateful that the camera would avoid her stomach, but it wasn’t just a coincidence. Noah told her that he knew about her pregnancy, but he promised to keep it a secret.

Noah came to her show later that night. Apparently her pregnancy and a “super complicated relationship” with Avery didn’t matter to him. He still liked Juliette and apparently won’t give up easily.

Meanwhile, Avery was still considering giving up on Juliette. He talked to Gunnar (Sam Palladio) about Juliette’s pregnancy. He never thought he’d have a kid at this point in his life. He thought he’d be married or have his career together. He was considering letting Juliette go do this on her own, the way she wanted. “Maybe that’s what’s best for the baby and for me too,” Avery said.

Gunnar realized he couldn’t be like Avery. Earlier that day he met Mika, Kiley’s son. Gunnar knew he would’ve been born shortly after he and Kiley broke up, but Kylie assured him that it wasn’t his. He went to Kylie before she packed up to leave Nashville and asked her again.

“You look me in the eye and you tell me the truth: Is Mika mine?” Gunnar asked.

“Yes,” Kylie said.

Gunnar’s girlfriend Zoe wasn’t aware of Gunnar’s kid when she sang back up for Juliette that night. During a performance of “Tell That Devil,” Juliette had to run off the stage mid-song. Zoe stepped in and started singing the song. While she was enjoying her time in the spotlight, Juliette was passing out backstage.

Juliette isn’t the only country star in danger. Will (Chris Carmack) tried to hit on a random guy in the park, but it was a set up. He was beaten and mugged.

“That’s what you get, faggot,” one of them said. Fearing for his safety definitely won’t get Will out of the closet any sooner.
