“Nashville” fans don’t have to wait until next year to find out what happened to Juliette Barnes. Though her plane went missing in the Season 4 finale cliffhanger, her Season 5 fate has already been revealed: she’s alive! But she’ll need some serious help.

Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) survival isn’t exactly surprising. After all, she signed on for 22 episodes when the ABC drama moved to CMT. However, details on a new character reveal that she was indeed in a plane crash.

TV Guide reports that the country star will meet a trans woman in Season 5. She’ll “play a significant role” in Juliette’s recovery. Will she save Juliette from the wreckage? It’s possible that she could be part of the celebrity’s treatment afterwards. It sounds like Juliette is going to be injured, and she isn’t going to heal quickly.

Juliette’s injuries will set her back. When we last saw her on “Nashville,” Juliette’s career was skyrocketing with an Academy Award nomination, and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) seemed ready to give her another chance. It looks like the plane crash will affect both her personal life and career. “Don’t be surprised if the starlet never steps onto another stage ever again,” TV Guide warns.

Though she was absent for much of last season, Juliette might be getting more screen time than ever in Season 5 — especially if Rayna is around less. As previously reported, Connie Britton is only signed on for about half the season. If CMT doesn’t convince her to do the full 22 episodes, it seems likely viewers will be seeing a lot more of Juliette and the other characters.

“Nashville” Season 5 premieres Thursday, Jan. 5, at 9 p.m. EDT on CMT. Episodes will be available on Hulu the next day.
