Rayna hasn’t gotten rid of all her ex-boyfriends. “Nashville” Season 5 previously didn’t include Will Chase, who played Luke Wheeler, on the cast list. However, Chris Carmack went on Twitter to reveal that Chase will return to the show.

A photo Carmack posted on Sunday morning and revealed that Luke is checking up on Carmack’s character, Will Lexington. The picture, taken from the set of the CMT drama in Nashville, Tennessee, has a caption that makes it sound like Will is the opening act for the head of his record label.

Will usually needs some guidance, but Luke might not be around for long. His portrayer has other commitments. While the cast started filming, Chase was on playing William Shakespeare on Broadway. He has finished his run, but he is heading back to ABC, the former home of “Nashville,” when he joins the new drama “Time After Time” as a series regular.

“Nashville” Season 5 managed to keep most of the show’s regular cast members. As previously reported, it was only Chase and Aubrey Peeples, who played Layla, who did not sign on after the country music drama moved to CMT. So far, it doesn’t seem like Peeples will make an appearance on the show. Instead the actress is focusing on her music and a few upcoming indie films, including “Cowboy Drifter” and “Heartthrob.”

Of course, the cast member fans are truly worried about is Connie Britton. As Rayna, she is the star of the show, but the actress is reportedly only signed on for about half of Season 5. The “People vs. O.J. Simpson” star has not directly addressed the rumors. She has only praised the drama’s new season.

“We have amazing new writers that I’m so excited about, Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick, and it’s going to be the best writing that we’ve ever seen on ‘Nashville,’” Britton told TVLine in August. “And it’s going to be the best — probably the best season we’ve ever had.”

“Nashville” Season 5 debuts Thursday, Nov. 5 with a two-hour premiere at 9 p.m. EST on CMT.
