It’s been a long summer for “Nashville” fans, but the “Nashville” characters will be picking up right where they left off. The Season 3 premiere won’t feature a time jump, so it’s time to remember what the people of Music City were doing in the Season 2 finale:

Rayna: It’s hard to forget Rayna’s (Connie Britton) major cliffhanger. Luke (Will Chase) proposed to her onstage and she accepted. Then Deacon (Chip Esten) went to her house and proposed to her after he realized that he could lose her again. Rayna is seriously considering both options, but she still has to worry about the launch of her label. Highway 65 Records has to succeed or Rayna could lose everything, including her house. In the "Nashville" finale, she was getting ready to release her album. She and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) are the only artists on the label, and if Rayna’s album tanks, it could hurt both of them.

Juliette: After sleeping with Jeff (Oliver Hudson), Juliette tried to quit Rayna’s label. Jeff was blackmailing her to come back to Edgehill Records, but Rayna wouldn't let Juliette out of her contract. The blonde showed up completely drunk to Deacon’s benefit for a charity called Sober House, and Deacon kept her out of view as Avery (Jonathan Jackson) played “One Light Shining” for her. Rayna held Juliette’s hair back as she threw up and confessed that she slept with Jeff. The veteran singer still wasn’t about to let her out of her contract and told her that she had to tell Avery before Jeff did.

Juliette wasn’t quick enough to tell Avery. After holding onto the knowledge for a few days, Gunnar (Sam Palladio) finally told him that he saw Juliette leaving a room with Jeff. Avery was heartbroken and took out his anger on Juliette. He asked her if sex ever meant anything to her and told her that she only understood love when it involved thousands of fans worshipping her. “You have no idea how much I love you,” Avery said. “That’s something I’ll have to get over.”

Scarlett: After her break down and quitting singing, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) decided to get out of Nashville. She wanted to go back to college and study poetry. She and Gunnar had a nice heart-to-heart, and the two finally seemed to be on good terms after not speaking for a good portion of the season. Still, Gunnar didn't want her to go back to Mississippi.

Will: Rayna stole Will’s (Chris Carmack) deal with Boone’s Superstores, a deal that almost guaranteed Will a successful album launch. Without it, the newbie country singer doesn’t know if his album will succeed. He freaked out and thought he would lose his record deal. Gunnar tried to comfort his friend and told Will that he needed to be honest with himself. Will had been hiding his sexuality, and his reality show was making it even harder for him to live in the closet. He went home to his wife Layla (Aubrey Peebles) and took her into the bedroom since there weren’t supposed to be any cameras in there. Will admitted that he was gay, and a little red light on the wall above them turned on.

Gunnar didn’t see too much action in the finale, but he’ll deal plenty of drama in “Nashville” Season 3 when his ex-girlfriend Kylie (Alexa Vega) comes to town. The Season 3 premiere will also show Rayna making a difficult choice between the men in her life while Juliette attempts to pick up the pieces to hers. But rumor has it Juliette will managed to find time for a new love interest.
