The Oscar winning actress and her choreographer fiance Benjamin Millepied have welcomed a son. There is no immediate comment from Portman's publicist about the time and place of the birth.

It's been a big year for Natalie Portman: an engagement announcement in December, an Oscar for her role in Black swan and now a baby !

Portman, who turned 30 last Thursday met her French ballet dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied on the set of Black Swan, in which she played a self-mutilating ballerina, and later won an Oscar for Best Actress.

The couple announced in December that they were engaged and expecting their first child.

The Israeli-born, New York-raised actress rose to fame playing the preteen protegee of a hitman in The Professional, and appeared in the Star Wars reboots as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia's mother. She was most recently in theaters with the romantic comedy No Strings Attached.
