Many fans were shocked and outraged over the news of Stana Katic’s impending departure from “Castle.” The actress and her co-star Nathan Fillion recently shared their thoughts about the news on social media.

Avid viewers of the ABC series “Castle” were disappointed when several reports on Monday indicated that Katic is set to leave the series. A day after the news broke, the actress took to social media to give a special message to her fans, Entertainment Tonight reported.

In Katic’s Twitter message posted on April 9, the actress thanked her fans for their support over the years. For the past eight Seasons of the ABC show, Katic has portrayed the character of Detective Kate Beckett in the series.

The actress’ co-star Fillion, who plays Rick Castle, the love interest of Detective Beckett, has also shared his thoughts on Katic’s exit. He took to Twitter on Tuesday to post a lengthy message. The actor first commented on how he hopes the show will live on for several years. He even described “Castle” as “one of the greatest joys of [his] creative life.”

Fillion then thanked Katic for being his partner in the show for eight Seasons. He mentioned how the actress has managed to create a character “who will live on for all of us as one of the greatest police officers in television.” Fillion also included a special message for his co-star.

“I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues. She will be missed,” Fillion said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the actress’ Twitter followers also posted supportive messages.

It is still unclear if “Castle” will be extended for another season. ABC has yet to announce if it will pick up a Season 9 for the show.
