Tuesday is National Peanut Butter day! For those who are fans of the creamy, crunchy, delicious condiment, it's truly a day to celebrate.

The earliest iteration of peanut butter was said to have been created by the Incas and Aztecs sometime around 1000 B.C., and was a nutty paste, according to the National Day Calendar. Peanut butter is now a food item that typically can be found in more than 90 percent of all American households. It was first introduced to the masses by the Kellogg brothers in 1895 when they secured the patent for a peanut butter. Later, George Washington Carver created hundreds of uses for the legumes. He is largely credited as the “father of the peanut industry,” according to Peanut Butter Lovers.

In honor of the auspicious, nutty occasion, here are six recipes to try for the national holiday (that are not PB&J sandwiches).

  1. Peanut Butter Buckeyes: Ideal for a sweet snack, peanut butter buckeyes are a tasty, creamy treat that are made with ingredients like peanut butter, chocolate chips, vanilla and powdered sugar.
  2. Peanut Butter Cookies: Allrecipes features a super simple recipe for this classic cookie.
  3. Peanut Butter Banana Blender Muffins: This blended recipe for rich peanut buttery muffins (courtesy of Thirty Handmade Days) apparently takes no time at all to bake.
  4. Peanut Satay Sauce: For Thai food lovers, Bon Appetit has a delicious recipe for a Peanut Satay sauce. Drizzle over grilled chicken skewers or add it to a Banh Mi Dog.
  5. Peanut Butter Cheesecake: Seeking a peanut buttery option for a decedent dessert? Give this Peanut Butter Cheesecake a try (the crust is apparently made of pretzels), courtesy of Taste of Home.
  6. Sesame and Peanut Noodles: This recipe from Food Network calls for a rich assortment of flavors, from peanut butter and honey to soy sauce and spicy Sriracha. Add any number of veggies and your favorite noodles and you have a peanut butter-y dinner.
