Get ready to rub some bellies and throw some sticks — Wednesday is National Puppy Day! The holiday, created in 2006 by celebrity pet author Colleen Paige, is an annual observance aimed at recognizing the “magic and unconditional love” puppies provide while spreading awareness about adoption, according to its website.

Let’s face it: Almost everybody loves puppies, no matter what the breed. Whether you're a devoted dog owner yourself or a just a simple admirer of canines on Instagram, spend some time Wednesday honoring your favorite pooch.

Here are a few quotes and adorable photos to help you get inspired, collected from Goodreads, Thought Catalog and Quote Garden.
