KEY POINTS

  • The New York Knicks are struggling this season as they are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference
  • Cole Anthony is the son of former Knick Greg Anthony
  • Cole Anthony is one of the top prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft

The New York Knicks are currently near the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 17-39 record. The team continues to struggle and has yet to find their winning groove. While the front office has tried to make some changes in the trade deadline, the team is still on pace for another draft lottery pick.

The Knicks shipped away Marcus Morris to the LA Clippers in time for the trade deadline for future assets. Morris was the team’s most productive player in their squad as he’s averaging 18.7 points per game. As the Knicks continue their rebuild, the team is looking into the 2020 draft for their source of talent.

One of the top NBA prospects is Cole Anthony. He is the son of former Knick Greg Anthony and has been making noise online as a high school hooper sensation. Anthony is an athletic guard who posses a very versatile offensive skill set. The six-foot-two guard can create his own offense whether it’s driving into the lane or pulling up from the perimeter.

While the Knicks continue to find their way out of the rebuilding phase, they currently have talent that they can hone in the future. If they draft Anthony, he will join the talented young shooting guard RJ Barrett.

Barrett played for the Duke Blue Devils and was teammates with Zion Williamson in their freshman year. Barrett has been putting up serviceable numbers this season with 13.7 points per game to go along with 5.1 rebounds per outing.

Mitchell Robinson has also put up steady performances for the Knicks with 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds while shooting 73.1% from the field. Having Anthony pair with the young core of the Knicks is a positive direction to look at for the organization. With Anthony’s handle leading the charge, he has options to dish to Barrett or lobs it up for Robinson inside.

Anthony has been delivering big games for the Tar Heels with 19.4 points per outing. Despite having his stock slide due to the rise of players such as Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, Anthony is still considered as one of the top talents of the class.
