Many fans of Ziva (Cote de Pablo) and Tony (Michael Weatherly) were upset with the “NCIS” Season 13 finale. CBS

Ziva David is dead, and fans aren’t just mourning the “NCIS” character: They’re angry. Many employed social media to reveal how much they hated the final twist in Ziva’s storyline.

Ziva (Cote de Pablo) left the CBS show in Season 11, but the “NCIS” Season 13 finale heavily involved the character. She was killed in an explosion and left behind a daughter that she had kept hidden from Tony (Michael Weatherly). Ultimately, the little girl is the reason Tony quits the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

Fans had been hoping Ziva would return in Tony’s farewell episode. The two had a love story throughout their eight years on “NCIS” together. De Pablo warned viewers she wouldn’t be in the episode, but they still didn’t expect her character to be killed off-screen.

Some felt Ziva simply deserved more. Others took issue with the fact she kept the child secret, which they argued seemed unlike her. Meanwhile, many were just upset that “NCIS” killed yet another beloved character.

De Pablo has not commented on Ziva’s death. The actress played the Israeli agent from 2003 to 2013. She said this year she would not return to the CBS procedural without good material for her character. “Until someone can really write something fantastic for her, I won’t go back,” she said during a question-and-answer session at Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, last month.

Although de Pablo has not remarked on her character’s death yet, she is aware of it. Weatherly revealed she was watching his last episode with him Tuesday night.
