NCIS DiNozzo
DiNozzo's (Michael Weatherly) final appearance on “NCIS” will be in the Season 13 finale on May 17. CBS

Sorry, “NCIS” fans! Michael Weatherly’s final episode as Agent Anthony DiNozzo is quickly approaching.

The 47-year-old actor, who has appeared on 302 episodes of the popular CBS series over the course of 13 years, is set to depart May 17. Although the episode is still a few weeks away, the release of the official synopsis sheds some light on what devoted viewers can expect from the character’s emotional exit.

According to the episode description, the Season 13 finale is titled “Family First.” The installment will find NCIS, FBI and MI-6 continuing to work together in order to find an “escaped British spy who is targeting current and former agents.” And, unfortunately, the synopsis doesn’t reveal anything more than that regarding how DiNozzo will exit. However, executive producer Gary Glasberg did promise TVLine that they’ve done “lots of planning” since learning of Weatherly’s plan to leave, and the goal of the finale is to leave everyone “satisfied.”

Part of the finale will involve the set up for potential series regulars. Sarah Clarke of “Twilight” and “24” fame is joining “NCIS” in the final two episodes of the season as FBI Special Agent Tess Monroe. British actor Duane Henry, who has appeared on “Doctors,” is also slated to make his way onto the show in the final two episodes. Entertainment Weekly reports that Henry will portray MI-6 Officer Clayton Reeves. Both Clarke and Henry have an option to join Season 14 as series regulars.

Although new faces are always fun, fans of “NCIS” are still hopeful that alum Cote de Pablo will reprise her role as Ziva. The actress exited the series at the end of Season 11, and her character was written off after telling DiNozzo that she loved him. Since Ziva was not killed off, “Tiva” shippers are crossing their fingers that Weatherly’s exit will finally unite the two.
