N.E.A. Endorses Obama’s Re-Election

National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers union in the nation, has voted Monday in Chicago to give their support for President Barak Obama’s reelection bid next year.

The day before the vote, Vice President Joe Biden delivered a pro-union speech to where he pledged to “fight alongside of you” and was appraised with the standing ovation.

“There is an organized effort to place the blame for the budget shortfall squarely on the shoulders of teachers and other public workers, and it is one of the biggest scams in modern American history,” said Biden.

Many of the NEA members agreed with Biden and 72 percent has voted in favor of supporting Obama for re-election.

“President Barack Obama shares our vision for a stronger America,” said Dennis Van Roekel, the NEA president. “He has never wavered from talking about the importance of education or his dedication to a vibrant middle class.

Usually, the NEA announces its presidential recommendation the summer before the election. The early decision for endorsement came to help “ensure the election of a candidate who is on the side of students and working families.”
