Electronic Arts' newest "Need for Speed" looks to take place at night, much like the popular "Underground" series. Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts officially announced "Need for Speed 2015" at E3 2015 during a press conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The game, which EA says is a “reboot” for the franchise, will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The only thing the publisher didn't immediately reveal is when the title will ship.

Now we know: "Need for Speed 2015" arrives Nov. 3, in time for the holiday shopping season, according to EA.

"Need for Speed 2015" follows 2013's “Need for Speed Rivals," an open-world game that allowed players to play as racers with high-end supercars or police officers with similarly exotic patrol cars. The new version will feature a deep level of customization and modifications as players explore the city of Ventura Bay, a place "nearly twice the size of the world of 'Rivals,' " according to Electronic Arts' Marcus Nilsson.

EA normally publishes a new "Need for Speed" title every year, but did not release any in 2014. Instead, it gave the reins to Swedish developer Ghost Games to reboot the "Need for Speed" franchise once more in the wake of a few lackluster titles. This game will focus on five styles of driving: Speed, Style, Build, Crew and Outlaw.
