Halloween 2020 will probably include less partying and trick-or-treating and more social distancing and scary movies. Luckily, Netflix has big streaming plans, and its “Netflix and Chills” programming event already kicked off. New movies, series and specials will release throughout the season to keep viewers spooked at home.

Netflix started Halloween season on Tuesday with the zombie apocalypse movie “#Alive,” and the September scares continue Thursday with “The Babysitter: Killer Queen,” a follow-up to 2017’s “Babysitter” movie. Old enemies unexpectedly return in the sequel, which stars Judah Lewis, Emily Alyn Lind, Robbie Amell, Hana Mae Lee and Bella Thorne.

“Ratched” is another highly anticipated September release. “American Horror Story” duo Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson team up again for this Netflix original series about 1947 asylum nurse Mildred Ratched. Jon Jon Briones, Judy Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Finn Wittrock, Sharon Stone and Charlie Carver are in the “Ratched” cast with Paulson.

“The Haunting of Hill House” follow-up “The Haunting of Bly Manor” premieres in October along with the movie adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s famous gothic novel “Rebecca,” starring Armie Hammer and Lily James.

Meanwhile, Netflix is bringing some family-friendly fall festivities with “The Worst Witch” Season 4, “StarBeam: Halloween Hero,” and “Super Monsters: Dia de los Monsters.” The movie “ParaNorman” will also return to Netflix in October.

Other licensed titles (meaning not Netflix originals) include “Cape Fear,” “Evil” Season 1, “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” and “Unfriended.”
