In case you were worried that “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans weren’t still maddeningly devoted to the series, they totally are. According to new reports, the upcoming spinoff “Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as Told by Christian” has already shot to the top of some best-sellers lists.

The new novel will retell the story of author E.L. James first book, later turned into a successful movie starring Dakota Jonson and Jamie Dornan. However, this time the entire story will be told from the perspective of Christian Grey rather than the previous narrator, Anastasia Steele.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the book is dropping on June 18, which happens to coincide with the fictional character’s birthday, but that hasn’t stopped fans eager to pre-order their copy from boosting it to the top best-sellers list on both Barnes and Noble and Amazon (which are both still accepting pre-orders as of this writing).

What makes this feat surprising is that it has only been one day since James first made the announcement of “Grey” on her Instagram page. According to a statement that accompanied the announcement (via The Hollywood Reporter), the spinoff book was a reaction to massive fan demands.

"Christian is a complex character, and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations and his troubled past,” James wrote. “Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It's been a great pleasure to return to my happy place — writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe…”

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures is moving forward with the sequel to “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Fifty Shades Darker.” Not only will the principal stars reprise their roles, but release dates for the film were recently announced at CinemaCon. As of right now, there’s no telling if the success of “Grey” will springboard into alternate versions of all three books in the “Fifty Shades” trilogy.
