“New Girl” star Hannah Simone and her husband, Jesse Giddings, welcomed their first child earlier this month.

According to E! News, Simone gave birth to a healthy baby boy. As of late, the actress and Giddings haven’t confirmed the news and have not posted photos of their son on social media. There also hasn’t been any sightings of the family.

Back in April, People reported that Simone and Giddings secretly tied the knot last year. In the same month, news about Simone’s pregnancy made headlines. Luckily, the actress real-life pregnancy lined up with her character Cece’s pregnancy in “New Girl” last season.

Meanwhile, Simone and Zooey Deschanel will both return for the seventh and final season of the hit Fox series. According to Deadline, the renewal of “New Girl” could be regarded as last minute, but not necessarily unexpected. After all, the series became one of the network’s highest-rated comedies.

After Season 6 wrapped up in April, there were rumors that “New Girl” would be canceled. But executive producer Liz Meriwether managed to pitch an interesting story for Season 7 that ensured its renewal. The same publication noted that the upcoming premiere will picl up three years after the events that took place last season.

This means that when the show returns, Cece has already given birth to her and Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) first child. Jess (Deschanel) and Nick (Jake Johnson) may or may not be together. Winston (Lamorne Morris) may have reunited with his father after giving him a call in the Season 6 finale.

But despite the show’s renewal, “New Girl” Season 7 will only have a total of eight episodes unlike its usual 22 installments from Seasons 1 to 6. Following the renewal, Johnson expressed his excitement via Twitter.

Prior to the renewal and after the Season 6 finale, executive producer Brett Baer stood by their desire to see “New Girl” return for at least another season. “I think it would be really disappointing to have the show go off the air and not give the audience a satisfactory conclusion to a storyline that’s been the engine of the show since Season 1,” he told TV Line.

“New Girl” Season 7 is expected to premiere on Fox next year.
