A drive-by shooting in New Orleans left two people dead and five wounded Sunday night. Among those hurt were three children who were outside the Lower Ninth Ward home where the shooter opened fire, reports WWL-TV.

An 18-year-old woman and man were killed in the incident around 8 p.m., the New Orleans Police Department said. Officer Frank Robertson told the station the man looked to be in his late 20s.

Two children, ages 2 and 4, and a woman remain in critical condition. A 37-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl are in stable condition, said Robertson. The victims were all in the front of the home when a dark car pulled up to the house and the men inside fired off several shots before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses said the car may have been a Honda Accord and it had a Louisiana commercial license plate. The New Orleans Police Department is investigating the shooting but haven't yet released any details on the suspects or their descriptions.
