Earlier this week, a rendering of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 was making rounds online. But now, Phone Arena says, there will be two variants of the Tab series of devices: Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7. Both new products are expected to be unveiled in June of this year, just as their predecessors -- Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 -- were released in June 2014.

In the meantime, apart from the image leaked this week, there is a new rendering that reveals the tablet’s rear panel. [Scroll down for images.]

The forthcoming tablets will reportedly flaunt a metallic exterior, instead of the plastic chassis synonymous with Samsung devices. Also, the dimensions of the slate will be 237.17 x 169.58 x 5.5 mm. This means the upcoming Galaxy Tab S2 slates will be slimmer than the Apple iPad Air 2.

Meanwhile, the 8-inch and 9.7-inch AMOLED display-clad tablets will be feature 2,048 x 1,536 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will reportedly be powered by an octa-core, 64-bit SoC. Phone Arena says Samsung’s Exynos 7420 -- seen in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge -- could be the processor on board.

Moving on to other Galaxy Tab S2 specifications, GSM Arena says the slate will come with a provision for cellular connectivity. Moreover, the leaked image shows a SIM card slot, along with a microSD card slot. Also, the tablet will be backed by 3 GB of RAM. The slate also will reportedly come equipped with 32 GB of built-in storage capacity. To top it off, the Galaxy Tab S2 will sport an 8 MP rear-facing camera unit and a 2 MP front-facing snapper unit for selfies and video chats.

Readers should note, however, that the South Korean tech giant has not yet confirmed the Galaxy Tab S2 specifications, features or release date.
