Square Enix has revealed new details and screenshots for “Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness”, or “Star Ocean 5” since this is the fifth installment of the series. The information Square Enix has released about the Japanese roleplaying game (RPG) includes new details about the story, characters and the action-packed battle system that the series is known for.
According to Gematsu, the main source of the game’s conflict lies in a planet called the Leslia Kingdom. Despite being naturally beautiful, having rich soil and a warm climate, the planet was constantly in turmoil thanks to ferocious animals and a band of thieves know as Eitron wreaking havoc. Due to all of this the planet was plunged into a period called ‘The Dark 7 Years”.
Like in most games of the JRPG genre, one handsome young man with exceptional sword skills named Fidel Camuze can’t take it anymore and decides to face the crisis with his friend Miki. Together, they decide to venture across the galaxy, meet new allies and discover new locations for a seemingly better future, before trouble starts brewing.
As they journey through the galaxy, they meet new people who join them in their journey. These characters are -- Special Forces soldier named Viktor, an amnesiac named Lilia and a mage named Fiore, who wears a very interesting outfit that has caught the attention of many JRPG fans, Techno Buffalo reported.
Players will be able to use all of the characters in the game’s battle system, which has gone through a few changes. Depending on how far or near the enemies are, the characters have both long-ranged and short-ranged attacks that can take them out.
There are also light attacks and medium attacks, which are new to the series. Prior to this, the battle system was slightly similar to the one seen in the “Tales of” series. Players can also defend themselves well with guards and guard counters, which can change the tide of the battle.
“Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness” will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The game comes out in Japan on Feb. 25, while North America and Europe have an unconfirmed release date.
