Blizzard has released a new trailer for the latest “StarCraft 2” expansion “Legacy of the Void” and though it has no gameplay, the subject matter in the trailer is fairly interesting and worth watching for long time fans of the series. The video mostly focuses on the alien race known as The Protoss, as they make existential choices and set up the next major conflict.

Interestingly enough, the trailer mostly relies on dialogue while storyboards for the expansion pack are shown, as reported by Polygon. Contrary to what some gamers believe, “StarCraft 2” does have a story in the single-player campaign mode and as the trailer shows, it’s an interesting one.

Most gamers look at Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games as eSports titles, since games like “Starcraft 2”, “League of Legends” and “DOTA” are usually seen in competitive multiplayer tournaments. While the games are mostly known for tournaments, most of them do have a story and Blizzard has been building the one in “StarCraft 2” for over 20 years.

According to VG24/7, fans have been waiting for this particular story thread for quite some time now, 1998 to be exact. As the Protoss question their heritage and debate over what must or mustn’t be done, it’s clear that this isn’t just some random campaign, but a conclusion that has been built up for quite some time.

“StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void” is only the second expansion of the game, but it will end the trilogy regarding the war between the game’s major factions. This all started with the first “StarCraft” from 1998, continued with its sequel in 2010 with the Terrans and 2013 with the Zerg.

Fans will be happy to know that Blizzard makes the trailer as epic as it can be, with plenty of verbose dialogue and intriguing points made within the trailer. Even though the video is mostly storyboards and dialogue, it does help players catch up with the events of the storyline.

“Legacy of the Void” will be available on Nov. 10, so fans won’t have to wait too long before playing the epic conclusion. It’s not yet known if this finale to the faction wars is also the final expansion of the game.
