New York City has experienced an earthquake, rattling the city just before 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The center of the earthquake appears to be in Virginia, near the Washington, D.C. border.

KENS 5 TV reports that the Pentagon is being evacuated, and reports are coming in that the White House is also being evacuated.

The Virginia earthquake reportedly has a magnitude of 5.9.

Fox News has reported that JFK airport has closed in response to the earthquake.
