RTTNews - In New Zealand, the number of new housing units authorized, excluding apartments, rose a seasonally adjusted 4.5% in April, after falling 0.4% in March, the Statistics New Zealand said. Including apartments, the number increased 11% in April compared to a 1.7% drop in March.

During the month, 1,009 new housing units were authorized on a seasonally adjusted basis, including 199 apartment units.

Meanwhile, the value of residential building consents was NZ$355 million in April, down 45% from last year. The value of non-residential building consents was NZ$530 million in April, up 11% from the previous year, and is the highest monthly value since the series began in April 1965.
