In New Zealand, the value of total electronic card spending fell 5% month-on-month in March, on a seasonally adjusted basis, reversing the 0.6% rise in the previous month, the Statistics New Zealand said Thursday.

In March, the value of card transactions in the retail industry grew 0.3%, following a 0.5% increase in February. In the core retailing industry, which excludes motor vehicle related industries, the value of card transactions increased 0.7%, following a 0.3% fall each in the previous two months.

On a trend basis, the report said the value of transactions in the total, retail and core retailing industries remained flat in March.
