Thursday, the latest Hudson Report showed that 11.3% of employers in New Zealand intend to cut their permanent staffing levels during April to June period. This was 19.2 percentage points lower than the previous survey level.

Around 64% of employers plan to hold their present staff levels steady, while 23.7% intend to reduce. Only 12.4% intend to raise their permanent staff level, the recruitment agency said.

The latest Hudson Report Employment Expectations survey showed that employer confidence continues to fall sharply across the regions, with all regions now reporting negative sentiment.
