Fox International Channels, News Corp.'s pay television unit outside the U.S., acquired a 56 percent stake in European online video advertising network Utarget in an effort to increase its international ad revenue.

Fox International operating chief, Herman Lopez, said the firm will invest more than $10 million in the venture.

Utarget, based in London has access to more than 630 Web sites in the U.K., which will allow Fox and its partner Web sites to have great access to users with video ads.

Utarget will allow Fox International to sell the video ads in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa, markets where it creates and distributes entertainment, sports and movie channels, said Lopez.

Lopez added that Fox International already has more than 50 million unique Internet users outside the U.S. and Utarget will allow the firm to increase its global recognition.

Fox Interactive new Audience Network group, a very prominent ad sales and technology unit will work closely with Utarget to boost growth of the ad sales business.
