On Sunday, Nov. 9, “The Newsroom” returns to HBO with the premiere of its third and final season. While “The Newsroom” has been off for almost a year, there has been no shortage of news about the last episodes of the drama series. Fans can expect no shortage of drama as the show begins the shortened six-episode Season 3.

Check out eight things you need to know about “The Newsroom” final season:

1. Premiere Synopsis

The premiere episode, “Boston,” picks up in April 2013 where ACN, still struggling to restore its credibility after the Genoa controversy, will be cautious while covering the Boston Marathon bombing. Meanwhile, Neal (Dev Patel) will make contact in the premiere with an anonymous source that hands over government documents relating to riots going on overseas in Kundu. The documents reveal that false press stories may have been the cause of the riots.

2. Episode Titles

The episode titles for the first four (of six) episodes of Season 3 have been released:

Episode 1 – “Boston” (Nov. 9)

Episode 2 – “Run” (Nov. 16)

Episode 3 – “Main Justice” (Nov. 23)

Episode 4 – “Contempt” (Nov. 30)

3. Wedding?

Season 2 of “The Newsroom” ended with Will (Jeff Daniels) proposing to Mackenzie (Emily Mortimer), but will the two tie the knot in the final episodes? Apparently, the two characters are discussing bridesmaids in the premiere, but Jeff Daniels left some room for doubt about the couple’s wedding plans, telling TV Line, “I know Will and Mac want to. There are some obstacles thrown up in our way. Whether we overcome them or not in the second half [of the season] is to be seen.”

4. Love Triangle

Maggie (Alison Pill) will be back in action in Season 3 and far removed from the trauma and depression she was dealing with in Season 2. Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) will definitely notice the new Maggie, but he also has a new girlfriend, Hallie (Grace Gummer), who, after meeting Jim on the campaign trail last season, is a series regular this year. This has all the makings of another “Newsroom” love triangle.

5. Don and Sloan

Are Don (Thomas Sadoski) and Sloan (Olivia Munn) together in Season 3 after she planted that big kiss on the producer in Season 2? The couple will be seeing each other, but the trailer for Season 3 shows them struggling to define their new relationship.

6. Scandal

Last season, ACN had Genoa and it looks like the newsroom might have to deal with another scandal in Season 3. Remember those government documents Neal gets in the premiere (mentioned above)? When the documents turn out to be stolen, ACN will be in some hot water leading to, among other things, an F.B.I. raid of the newsroom and the threat of jail time for Neal and others.

7. Guest Stars

“The Newsroom” will have some big guest stars in its final season. Among them, Kat Dennings (“2 Broke Girls”) plays a half-sister to Resse Lansing (Chris Messina) named Blair, and B.J. Novak (“The Office”) plays Lucas Pruit, a man interested in buying ACN.

8. Will Quitting?

Between low ratings and a lawsuit from the documents scandal, Season 3 will be a tough one for ACN, and at the end of the season Charlie (Sam Waterston) will even look into selling the station! A teaser for the final episodes suggested Will is considering quitting. Is this the end for ACN and News Night 2.0?
