Nexus Prime, an upcoming Android smartphone from Samsung, is ready to take the smartphone throne from iPhone 5 way ahead of the Apple device's launch, with a stunning curved design just as many expected in the fifth generation iPhone.

Samsung newly released a teaser video, which reveals a curved screen on the upcoming Nexus Prime smartphone.

Something BIG is coming, reads the tagline as the screen shows a curved profile of a slender device. Nexus Prime is expected for a Oct. 11 release on Verizon, sporting the newest Android OS, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich.

When the disappointment over no iPhone 5 release this year, unleashing the stunning Nexus Prime may genuinely mark something big in the competitive smartphone market.

The entire world focused on Apple's Let's Talk iPhone event on Tuesday, where the highly anticipated iPhone 5 turned out to be a non-event. The new iPhone coming on October 14 turned out to be 4S, a faster phone with some improved qualities. Nexus Prime is expected to feature a 1.5-GHz dual-core processor, a 4.5-inch screen,1GB of RAM and 720p (1280 by 768) video resolution.

The device is also expected to house a curved 4.65-inch 1,280x720-pixel Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen.
