Several NFL teams that are hanging on to playoff spots could have a hard time winning in Week 16. Three of the wild-card leaders are pretty significant underdogs, according to the opening betting odds.

That includes both AFC wild-card leaders. The betting line favors the Los Angeles Rams by nearly a touchdown in their road game against the No.5 seed Tennessee Titans. Few expect the No.6 seed Buffalo Bills to win in New England, where the point spread is approaching two touchdowns.

Over in the NFC, the No.6 seed Atlanta Falcons are getting 5.5 points in their visit to New Orleans. The Falcons need one more victory to clinch a wild-card berth. Atlanta can win the NFC South with two more wins.

The team that is the closest to jumping into the AFC wild-card race is the biggest favorite of Week 16. The Baltimore Ravens are laying 13.5 points against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday afternoon in the first game on the upcoming schedule.

There is no opening betting line for Saturday’s contest between the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. It’s unknown if Aaron Rodgers will play now that the Packers are eliminated from playoff contention.

Either the Dallas Cowboys or Seattle Seahawks will be knocked out of the playoff race when they meet on Christmas Eve. Ezekiel Elliott will play for the first time since serving a six-game suspension. Seattle has made the playoffs in each of the last five seasons.

The Kansas City Chiefs can clinch the AFC West title by defeating the Miami Dolphins, against whom they are favored by 10 points. The Los Angeles Chargers are favored against the New York Jets as they try to keep their divisional hopes alive.

Three games on the Week 16 schedule feature two teams that have no chance to make the playoffs. The Chicago Bears host the Cleveland Browns in one of the worst games in the 2017 season. Winless Cleveland is nearly a touchdown underdog.
