NFL Coach Rumors: Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Arizona Cardinals: Seek, Interview New Coaches, Bill Cowher, Lovie Smith, Marc Trestman Top Candidates?

That leaves five head coaching positions left in the NFL: Philadelphia, Chicago, Buffalo, San Diego, and Arizona. Although Kelly has not officially signed on, and reportedly interviewed with the Eagles and Bills.

There are several marquee names rumored for each vacancy, including Lovie Smith and Bill Cowher, along with several top assistants from playoff teams, and a CFL coach.

Buffalo Bills

Smith reportedly met with Buffalo on Friday, less than five days removed from his dismissal by the Chicago Bears. The Bills defense could use a guru like Smith, who has coached at the NFL-level for 17 years and led Chicago to a Super Bowl.

According to NFL.com, Buffalo also interview Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone. In four years with the Orangemen, Marrone has a 25-25 record, but spent nine years prior as an offensive line coach and coordinator for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.

Now former-Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt also interviewed with Buffalo, as did current Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia owner Jeffrey Lurie and his staff also had a meeting with Kelly, and there have been conflicting reports on whether the Eagles have an interest in Cowher, who hasn’t coached since 2006.

Still the Eagles are looking at high-profile assistants like Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, and Seattle defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

Chicago Bears

The Bears are looking beyond assistants and former head coaches. In a report by the NFL Network, Chicago will interview CFL coach Marc Trestman, who has spent the last five seasons with the Montreal Alouettes. The 56-year-old last coached in the NFL in 2004, as the quarterbacks coach for the Miami Dolphins.

Chicago’s failures on offense led to Smith’s firing, and the Bears are inclined to bring in a more offensive minded coach. They are also considering Arians, according to the Chicago Tribune. Arians did wonders with rookie Andrew Luck this season.

Cowher was linked to the job due to Chicago’s rich legacy and huge market, but there has been no report he is interested in leaving CBS.

Dallas Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis was linked to the Bears, and interviewed Saturday, according to FOX Sports's Jay Glazer.

San Diego Chargers

The Chargers cleaned house and need a general manager as well as a coach. But its unclear which they will add first. San Diego is also scheduled to meet with Marrone, according to CBS Sports.

Arizona Cardinals

Arizona was thought to be Reid’s landing spot, but the Chiefs swooped in and the Cardinals continue their search. Like the Chargers, Arizona fired their coach and GM.

The Cardinals may pluck another assistant from the Pittsburgh Steelers like they did with Whisenhunt. Arizona received permission from the Steelers to talk to offensive coordinator Todd Haley, according to a report by AZCentral.com. The same report said Arizona also interviewed Horton.
