Manti Te'o
Notre Dame inside linebacker Manti Te'o recorded 111 tackles and seven interceptions last season, and could go in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft. thefinalhorn.wordpress.com

A strange, fake-girlfriend scandal and a turtle-like 40-yard dash apparently haven’t diminished Notre Dame inside linebacker Manti Te’o’s draft stock.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that as many as half the teams in the league have Te’o rated as a first round choice.

The 22-year-old that led the Fighting Irish with 111 tackles and seven interceptions last season reportedly “aced” his interviews, and while teams do think he’s a bit undersized at 6-foot-1 and 241 lbs., he’s expected to be a first round selection.

And of course, rumors of teams looking to move up the draft board have begun. This year the Atlanta Falcons are looking to rise from No. 30 overall in pursuit of a cornerback. The last time Atlanta made a big huge leap, they drafted wide receiver Julio Jones and the risk paid huge dividends.

But it’s important to note teams could be setting up huge smokescreens, hiding their true intentions for the first round scheduled for Thursday, April 28.
