New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been questioned about a murder case in North Attleboro, Mass.

Sports Illustrated cited unnamed sources in a report Tuesday that Massachusetts State Police questioned Hernandez in an investigation of a body that was discovered in an industrial yard near his North Attleboro home, reports the Boston Globe. But the player is not considered a suspect.

When asked, authorities would not confirm if Hernandez had been questioned as part of the investigation.

Hernandez has failed to fully cooperate with authorities since the discovery of the body, reports ABCNews.com. They added that during the search, two of Hernandez's associates attempted to leave the home but were detained.

A rental vehicle recovered near the scene ultimately led investigators to the football star. The vehicle had Rhode Island license plates and was rented in the player's name, according to SI.

Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter confirmed that a body was found around 5:30 p.m. Monday off John Dietsch Boulevard. It was in a clearing and due to the "nature and circumstances" of the body, the investigation was handed over to state police.

As of now, the Patriots, local police and Hernandez's agent have refused to comment.
