Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are close to finalizing the end of their marriage. TMZ is reporting that Cannon, 34, has officially filed for divorce from Carey, 44. The pair, who share twins Monroe and Moroccan, wed in April 2008 and separated in August.

According to the gossip site, the divorce filing occurred on Dec. 12 after weeks of negotiations between the two. The timing corresponds with Carey’s late taping of the NBC tree-lighting special on Dec. 3. TMZ reported at the time that the singer showed up more than three hours late to Rockefeller Center to record her Christmas hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Carey allegedly was delayed due to divorce talk with Cannon.

Specifics on the divorce filing have yet to be released, but both parties are already moving forward – career-wise, at least. Cannon is currently recording a new album, in which he brags about his sex life with his soon-to-be ex-wife. Carey, on the other hand, just announced a Las Vegas residency.

“Well, I’m going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars,” the hit singer revealed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Carey continued that it’s a “special event” for her because the show is inspired by her 18 No. 1 hits over the years. “It’s a new chapter for me, and I’m just excited about it.”
