Nick Viall
Nick Viall doesn’t understand why this major star wants him kicked off “Dancing With the Stars.” ABC

Nick Viall finally won fans over in Season 21 of “The Bachelor” — or so he thought. The Waukesha, Wisconsin, native made his debut on “Dancing With the Stars” on March 20 and one big name in Hollywood has made it his mission to get Nick booted.

William Shatner sparked a social media campaign urging fans to vote for anyone but Nick. The former “Bachelor” star caught wind of the mission, telling People it was “heartbreaking.” He and partner Peta Murgatroyd have created their own goal — to win Shatner over.

“It’s heartbreaking, I’ll be honest. The show must go on,” Nick said. “We’re gonna do our best, and it’s really just up to William to come around or not.”

Whatever the issue is, “DWTS” Tom Burgeron has attempted to extend an olive branch. He tweeted at Nick and Peta that he’d spoken with William and “peace is at hand.” The actor’s response leads us to believe that may not be the case, however.

The quasi feud began after the Season 24 premiere. The “Star Trek” actor tweeted about his plan, repeatedly urging followers to get in on the action. Nick and Peta both responded on Twitter, but had no luck swaying his opinion.

It’s not entirely clear where the beef stems from, but it appears it may be related to Nick’s rocky quest for love. William, a father of three, tweeted that he was “not happy” with what “The Bachelor” had done in the past, offering him a rose. He questioned whether the reality star had “matured” since popping the question.

“DWTS” fans won’t know until Monday, March 27, whether William's plan worked. It seems unlikely, though, that Team Baby Got Bach will be going anywhere. The pair scored relatively high for their first dance, placing them well above competitors like Kym Herjavec and Mr. T and Witney Carson and Chris Kattan.

Tune in to “DWTS” Monday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
